How to Add Buttons to WhatsApp Templates

  1. Click Add button.
  2. Select the button type from the drop-down list: Chat button, Link button, Call button.
  3. Follow the instructions for adding a button, depending on the selected type:
The maximum number of buttons in a WhatsApp message template is 10. These can include different types of buttons: multiple chat buttons, two link buttons, and a call button.
  1. If you’ve added between 4 and 10 buttons, activate the Expand buttons switch above the message preview to see the full list and order of the buttons.
  2. If necessary, hold down the icon in the button row and drag it to change the button order.
The added buttons are divided into two groups: chat buttons and call-to-action buttons, which are call and link buttons. You can only change the order of the buttons within each group.
  1. Click Submit or Save as draft.
  2. If you’ve added a link button and enabled the Make the button URL dynamic option, add an example of the dynamic part of the link and click Submit again.
Editing buttons is not available after submitting the template for registration.

If you’ve added between 4 and 10 buttons, the preview will only show the first three buttons, and the Show all options button to expand all the buttons.

How to Add a Chat Button

  1. Click Add button.
  2. Select the Chat button type. The maximum allowed number is 10.
  3. Enter the button name in the Button text field.
  4. Enter the button code, which is an additional value sent with an incoming message when the recipient clicks the chat button.

The recipient can only click on one chat button to reply to the message.

When the recipient clicks on the chat button, an incoming message containing the text and button code is sent to your personal edna Pulse account. The message is displayed in the AnalyticsMessages section, where you can view and download the report. Read more in the instruction.

  1. Click Add button.
  2. Select the Link button type. The maximum allowed number is 2.
  3. Enter the button name in the Button text field.
  4. Add a static link to be used in the broadcast. The template cannot be changed after registration.

  5. If necessary, enable the Make the button URL dynamic option, to add the required dynamic part to the static link when configuring the broadcast content using this template.

  6. If necessary, enable the Track clicks on link buttons to collect statistics on clicks in sent messages. Be aware of the specifics of collecting statistics:
    • The link in the message is replaced individually for each recipient.
    • The link is valid for 30 days after the message is sent. After the expiry date, the statistics will no longer be collected.

    When configuring the broadcast content, you can also add variables to personalize the dynamic link for each recipient. Read more in the instruction.

    After clicking on the added link button, the recipient will go to the specified address. The number of clicks on the link button in the message is unlimited.

    How to Add a Call Button

    1. Click Add button.
    2. Select the Call button type. The maximum allowed number is 1.
    3. Enter the button name in the Button text field.
    4. Enter the phone number, including the country code, to which the call will be made when the button is clicked.

    The number of clicks on the call button in the message is unlimited.
