What is the SMPP Protocol
The SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-Peer) protocol is a peer-to-peer protocol for sending SMS messages using special software or an API. It works with phone numbers and internet servers, enabling the faster delivery of large volumes of SMS messages.
You can send SMS messages via the SMPP protocol if you work with edna Pulse directly or via partners.
The SMPP protocol is standardized. In your personal edna Pulse account, the SMPP protocol only allows you to send messages via SMS, it is not available for other channels.
How to Connect SMPP Protocol for SMS Channel
- Contact your personal edna manager to receive the application template for connecting to the SMPP protocol.
The SMPP protocol can be connected either with or without encryption. The activation period starts from three business days.
- Enter the required information in the application you have received and send it to the manager for review. You can specify the network connection parameters during the verification process.
- Wait for the manager to send you a link with the data needed to configure and enable the SMPP protocol. This will provide information about your account, as well as comments from the engineers on the network connection.
The link is valid for three days. After the first use, the data is deleted. If you need the information again, ask the manager for it.
- Follow the link within three days of receipt, copy all the necessary data, and configure the settings on your end.
- Check that the SMPP protocol is functioning correctly and start sending SMS messages via it.
Cascading broadcasts are not available when sending SMS messages via the SMPP protocol from your personal edna Pulse account. They can only be sent via the API.
